Brown Shoe Donates $500,000 Worth of Shoes to QVC/FFANY Breast Cancer Fundraiser
ST. LOUIS, October 25, 2005 – Brown Shoe (NYSE: BWS, www.brownshoe.com) is a lead sponsor for the 2005 QVC Presents FFANY Shoes on Sale, an annual breast cancer research and education fundraiser hosted by the QVC shopping network and the Fashion Footwear Association of New York (FFANY.) Brown Shoe is donating $500,000 worth of shoes from its Naturalizer, Via Spiga, LifeStride, Carlos by Carlos Santana, Original Dr. Scholl’s, Franco Sarto, Etienne Aigner and Bass brands.
During a three-hour broadcast on Wednesday, October 26, the 12th annual Shoes on Sale will offer 100,000 pairs of shoes from more than 80 brands at half the suggested retail price. Proceeds will be donated to seven breast cancer research facilities, including the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, the E.I.F. Women’s Cancer Research Fund and the Siteman Cancer Center at Washington University’s School of Medicine in St. Louis.
Shoes on Sale airs on QVC (Channel 14 or 16 on Charter Cable) Wednesday, October 26 from 6-9 p.m. CST. The QVC broadcast will feature live reports from the FFANY Shoes on Sale gala, taking place simultaneously at Pier 94 in New York City. Shoes on Sale’s celebrity sponsors include Marcia Cross and Felicity Huffman from the ABC television show "Desperate Housewives.”
Since its inception in October 1994, Shoes on Sale has sold more than 950,000 pairs of shoes. Funds raised by this event have contributed to building a nationwide network of prominent breast cancer research centers.
